Housing the City Tour goes to Uitsig

31 July 2026

The City continues to take its services directly to residents, bringing its Housing City Tour: Bringing You Home initiative to the Uitsig area. The initiative aims to improve accessibility by taking Human Settlements services directly to the doorstep of residents across the metro.

'This week in Uitsig, residents were able to get help with housing needs applications, updates on housing projects in the area, homeownership enquiries, rental housing and other related services close to home. Some 36 title deeds were also handed over to homeowners. Our teams also completed repairs and maintenance at several public housing units in Uitsig, including Palm, Lemoen and Mimosa courts.

'We will continue taking services into communities as our work progresses, and we encourage residents to speak to our teams when they are in the area. We thank all stakeholders for their support as we continue to work together,’ said the Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Carl Pophaim, who visited the area with Ward Councillor Beverley Van Reenen.

Beneficiaries of City housing projects are selected in accordance with the City's Housing Allocation Policy and Housing Needs Register to ensure housing opportunities are made available in a fair and transparent manner that prevents queue jumping and to those who qualify for housing as per South African legislation.
